There won’t be a Lotus Festival again this year, but here’s a bit of good news!
Echo Park Lake — set to reopen next month after a two-year, multi-million dollar rehab that included a massive cleanup, draining and replanting effort — is showing signs of life after a prolonged dry spell.
The “Lady of the Lake” statue returned in January, the bridge is in place and in recent days Echo Park Lake passerbys have documented their delight in seeing the fountains turned on, reports the Eastsider LA.

Downtown Lobby: Depeche Mode Schedule Small L.A. Show
Depeche Mode will be in town this week to play a mini-concert for a taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live, but they have also announced that they will be playing a very intimate show here in Los Angeles. Depeche Mode will headline the Troubadour on Friday, April 26th in support of their new record “Delta Machine”. The announcement was made this morning on KROQ and is said to be the bands smallest venue the band has played in L.A. ever! Now the important question, how would you get tickets to this 400 person capacity room to see Depeche Mode.
You will only be able to get tickets through KROQ. The radio station will be giving away tickets for Depeche Mode at the Troubadour all week long. You can enter to win tickets online HERE, or on air every 30 minutes from 9am-8pm. If you’re one of the lucky few that score tickets to this show, prepare yourself for a once in a lifetime night with Dave Gahan and company.

Contest: How To Destroy Angels @ Fox Theater
Trent Reznor will bring his new project How To Destroy Angels into Pomona to play a warm up show this week before they head into the Indio dessert for Coachella. They will be at the Fox Theater on Wednesday, April 11th along with DIIV who will be opening up the show. Downtown Lobby: Cold War Kids To Play Free In-Store Show
Long Beach based band, Cold War Kids, will be releasing their next album “Dear Miss Lonelyhearts” on April 2nd and in celebration of the new release they’ve decided to play a free in-store show. Cold War Kids are already scheduled to perform on May 24th at The Fonda Theatre, but tickets for that show are sold out. So to keep the fans happy you can see them play an early show on Monday April 1st at Amoeba Music in Hollywood at 6pm. This is a free show and open to the public.
Like we said tickets for The Fonda Theatre show are sold out and this free show at Amoeba is on a first come first served basis. We suggest that you get there early and line up to get yourself a good spot to see Cold War Kids up close.
